What a beautiful restaurant in the heart of the city! It’s located directly across from the Boston Public Library and at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Service was friendly. The inside of this restaurant is so cute. The sushi was so fresh and tasty! I enjoyed their Funabari Don lunch special- the dish that they only serve 10 of per day. It’s one of the tastiest sushi dishes I’ve ever had. Their seasoned rice was perfect. I can’t wait to go back and try something else!

Sushi was fairly good—giving it 5 stars because the price was affordable and the quality exceeded expectations. I got 8 pieces of sushi for 32, and the fish was fresh with generous cuts. The fatty tuna was especially good. I also enjoyed the fried tofu. It’s not a fancy place, but a casual, comfortable spot for sushi. Didn’t expect much since it’s located right on the main street, but it pleasantly surprised me. Service was good, and I enjoyed the J-Pop playing in the background.

it is a real Japanese restaurant. Authentic food is served here. Quality kind of guaranteed when you see Japanese chefs working behind the counter. The fanatic tuna boat is great. And I like their California roll too. Service is warm in general. Definitely will come back again.

Very fresh and nicely done. Taste of fresh sashimi like it should be. Tuna is perfect and right dark color grade. Highly recommend Tuna Boston roll. Overall small portions, thus it is definitely not the cheapest place when you want to eat, not just “taste”.

Best Izakaya in Boston! The sushi was so fresh and delicious. Apparently, the menu is exactly the same as in restaurants in Japan, so those who are familiar with authentic Japanese establishments will find it nostalgic. The atmosphere and taste are so authentically Japanese, you might even forget you’re not in Japan. Easy to find this place. I’ll definitely be coming back!

A Hidden Sushi Gem That Treats You Like Royalty – And Feeds You Like One Too I don’t throw around the term “best sushi in Boston” lightly, but this place? It deserves it. From the moment I sat down, the staff made me feel like a VIP. It’s the small, thoughtful details—the way they quietly remove the miso soup lid once you’re done, or how they anticipate what you need before you even ask—that make the experience feel effortlessly elevated. Polished, warm, and attentive without being overbearing. And the food? Sublime. Let’s start with the rice. Whatever special seasoning they use turns it this beautiful golden-brown hue and infuses it with a savory, slightly nutty flavor. Honestly, I could eat a bowl of just that rice and be happy. But of course, then there’s the fish: silky, oily, and perfectly fatty—the kind that practically melts the moment it hits your tongue. Every bite is rich, fresh, and beautifully balanced. My go-to is the lunch set menu. It’s under 20 and easily one of the best value-for-money meals in the city. You get variety, quality, and satisfaction in every piece. It's the kind of lunch that makes you pause and appreciate life a little. Boston has some great sushi spots, but this one quietly outshines them all. Whether you're a die-hard sushi lover or just dipping your toes into the world of sashimi, this place delivers—consistently, generously, and with heart.

I really enjoyed the meal we had at Sakabayashi. I thought they brought a unique twist to the sushi concept - I got a sake flight which let me taste some premium sake, and we loved their more unique dishes- the slow cooked salmon was melt-in-your mouth. My favorite was probably the brown butter shrimp!
